Last Semester Post.

I relate to “Jelly” the most because we both don’t have an agriculture background. I grew up playing soccer and switched to volleyball around 5th grade. She grew up playing soccer. I love creating designs for projects, I always am there for a friend with a plan project. Taking photos is one of my free time activities. She took the photos for advertising the cattle company.  I am the first in my family to join FFA because of a friend and she joined because of her friend as well.  My brother is most similar to Jake  because my brother stepped out of his shell in college. He doesn’t do anything with agriculture but he is working with his CMSA group. He has since taken over since last years seniors left. He is in charge of reaching out to sponsors, creating their year project, and advertising it. Jake didn’t know much but found himself wanting more and more jobs. He had to work hard  to find his spot and thrived once he found it. Running a school in a small town is important because it is setting up future people to run the town. I think WC has an elementary school in Humboldt because we are not both big enough to support a school. I don’t know why all of our district’s students aren’t going to school in Hartford. I think a “Big Idea” like this is possible in Humboldt over Hartford just because Hartford is too close to Sioux Falls. Humboldt is more in the country. I think sports have more of a chance at getting the kind of  support from the community that Wildorado got to make it happen. We can do more projects in the community to gain support for all groups/activities at WC- especially the Ag Program and the FFA. We face the challenges of drama and rumors due to the “bad” FFA kids ruining our support in the community. We would have to be very involved and promote the community support. I thought this documentary was cool and really motivational. I’m not really curious about anything.

2020

I think that our country will be way more technology controlled. We might have people in space, but it would be later in the decade. I think we have people or at least robots visit the moon or another planet again. I think that agriculture and science will find a way to further boost food production. I think that a female will become President, we just about had a female become president this decade. I think that education will be more self paced and technology will replace a lot of activities for the elementary children. My goal for 2020 is to graduate. I have five days left. I can’t wait. Another goal is to pick a college and degree. By the end of 2030, I plan to be graduated from college and starting a career in my desired field.

The Gold Within

The abilities and gifts that I possess are creativity, self-motivated, and leadership. One of my passions is helping others past the basic stuff I do in TATU once I graduate. Three positive qualities about my personality are kind, hardworking, and patient.   I know multiple people that once one thing doesn’t go their way, they get down on themselves or don’t try in the future. I have been performing up to my potential but right now I only am worried about doing the bare minimum with only 9 days left of high school. In english I am doing additional work to finish with an A+ or higher for both Senior Comp and World Lit. In TATU, I was the only senior until yesterday so I have the most experience. I put the most work in to TATU this year than I have in the past years. I don’t have Josie or Trinity’s help so I feel I need to try that much harder for the younger members.

Thanksgiving

The cost of Thanksgiving remains the same, despite the hard times farmers have faces because the federal government stepped in with natural disaster funding.  Only eight cents from every dollar goes back to the farmer. If people would eat at home instead of out that the number would get higher. Food such as potatoes domesticated in South America (likely Peru) about 10,000 years ago. I think that Thanksgiving would be very different if these foods were never brought to the United States. We would probably have seafood or something odd for Thanksgiving.

On This Day..

On this day in history the biggest mistake is President John F. Kennedy was assassination. JFK was in assassinated on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, TX. JFK was in a convertible, in a parade. He was shot in the neck. Presidents should never ride in cars with open roofs and more security for parades, is a way to prevent a president getting shot.

The Starving Baker

The Starving Baker makes bread for everyone but is so skinny because he never eats any of it. People are so busy helping others that they forget about themselves. I get really busy between work, school, and activities. I have needed my dad to call me out of school because I was so stressed. The “sharpening the axe” story is when one person won but working smarter or harder. In life you need to slow down and think smart so you don’t work too hard.  I can eat supper on time and remember to eat on weekends instead of doing homework through lunch and just never eating. An obstacle I need to overcome is working in english class over talking with friends.

Leadership

My results were  I need to spend some time improving my mix of leadership styles, as I’m are heavily reliant on just one or two styles. This means that I will probably struggle to lead in different situations.

My well developed leadership style were pace-setter and visionary. Pace-setter is organized so that did not surprise me. A visionary has persuasive and influencing skills which I don’t think I have.

My well developed skills were coercive which is action planning, strategic thinking skills and decision making, my other skill was coacher, which is building a motivational environment and coaching skills.

Twice?

I have gotten in trouble for doing a chore wrong so I had to rake my whole yard. I can’t think of any mistakes that I have made twice. I hate when my gas is low so I don’t go to a destination with out having enough gas in my car. I got in a car accident which cost me money, but my second accident was not my fault so I didn’t make the same mistake twice. I have no brought an item to school that got me into trouble.

Classes with mixed ages

Good things about having students of variety of grade levels and abilities in your classes is the smarter or older ones can help the younger ones with homework and be role models. I loved it last year when I wasn’t the oldest because last years seniors could help me with grammar. The idiot kids drive me crazy, they don’t stay focused and discuss unhelpful things. I think all non core classes should be mixed. I am in two mixed classes but I only attend Ag Leadership. My other class would be supervised learning but I haven’t been there in a month. There is a group of younger students, I can’t stand but all the others are fine. Teams have more bonding and you can relate to each other based on the activity. Classes are for credits and you can’t really bond over homework.

First Quarter

I am half way done with my senior year. This quarter, I joined Ag Issues. I have never competed in a fall CDE. I am proud of my grades and how involved in activities I have been. I got president for TATU and we double our member numbers this year. I have learned that I am not enjoying band this year but it will be over after tonight. I need to work on saving money when I don’t have time to go into work. My bank account had been low until this morning when I got paid. I haven’t had any memorable disappointment. I wish my parents had come through more on my birthday but it worked out for me in a way. They are now covering my spending money for National convention.
